Railway Village Project

These sketches are the start of a new project. This year I'm starting to sketch the Railway Village in Swindon. It's a beautiful part of Swindon full of heritage and Victorian architecture so I'm looking forward to spending time here.

My first project will be making a picture map of the area. I've always loved maps. I think they are fascinating to many people. Satellite images are very familiar to us now, but I love the birds eye view maps that were popular before aerial photography.

I have always sketched on location, but this year I plan to start oil painting outside. This will be quite a challenge - especially carrying a wet painting home! I'm already getting my wet painting carrier ready!
