My Thrifty Family's Repair Shop

Updated: Mar 1, 2023

My family are known for renovating, upcycling and reusing things in creative ways. My aunt asked me to do something related to Cornwall to renovate this tray.

I focused it on St Austell Bay where they live, using my previous painting of Charlestown to feature in the middle.

It took quite a while and a different way of working for me - I don't usually work so small! I actually really enjoyed doing it though.

Apart from the location of the tin mine engine house, it is based on the geography of St Austell Bay. I used a mosaic style with the two outcrops of land and their house slightly inland.
