Swindon Open Studios: Seeing the world in 3D

I'm in the middle of Swindon Open studios this week and thought I would post some pictures!

The past few months I have started to work in a different way by creating 3D sketches / paper models before I start a painting, and sometimes the reverse - making a model based on a painting. I feel like I learn a lot from this about how to create space in my painting and produce more spontaneous work than with traditional sketching.

Not sure if these models have any purpose in themselves but I quite like the juxtaposition of monochrome models against the colourful paintings. If in Swindon you are welcome to come and see my work Sunday 30th September 11-5pm or other times by arrangement.
