This is a pack of six "Villages around Swindon" greetings cards, straddling the border of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Some of them were paintings or drawings completed on location.
Details of designs (numbered horizontally, see 8th image)
- An oil painting of the kitchen garden at Avebury Manor: this colourful garden within the National Trust property has been my focus for a few paintings and drawings. I was drawn to this nasturtium-filled wheelbarrow last year, to add interest to the foreground.
- Lechlade High Street: Featuring the church of St. Lawrence and the New Inn Hotel. This image was first created as a handdrawn ink sketch; colour was added digitally using layers of recycled paintings and collaged layers.
- Buscot Cafe: this card features the picturesque cafe in the village of Buscot. The attractive colourful garden set against the redbrick cafe, formerly a Post Office.
- An ink and watercolour drawing of the church and the village green: this was the first time I visited Aldbourne to draw. I sat on the green and drew for a few hours in black and white, then added colour later at home.
- Oil painting of Aldbourne Band on the green at Aldbourne: This was the busiest crowd I had painted in front of at the time. Everyone was focused on the band until the interval, when I had quite a crowd to see what I was doing!
- South Marston: this is an unusual 'bird's eye' view showing the church over the roof of the village school. They are both typical of the original village architecture.
3 of the cards are A5 (148mm x 210mm) with matching envelopes
3 are Square cards 148 x 148
